
Babbitt and Hauser Lead Kent State Past Walsh in Home Opener

KENT, Ohio — Junior Mya Babbitt and redshirt junior Corynne Hauser combined for 44 points to lead Kent State during Monday's 79-55 victory over Walsh in the home opener at the M.A.C. Center.
Hauser had the hot hand early, making her first four shots as part of a 13-point opening period. Freshman Rylee Kalocay and junior Riley Rismiller added three-pointers in the final minute to help the Golden Flashes (1-2) lead 28-16 after 10 minutes of action.
Freshman Caitlyn Holmes scored the first four points in the second period to double-up the guest Cavaliers before making just two field goals the rest of the half and leading 41-35 at the break.
Kent State used an 11-0 run over the final 3:37 of the third quarter to start pulling away.
Babbitt led all scorers with 23 points and Hauser finished with 21 points and career-high four steals. Senior Tatiana Thomas provided a boost off the bench and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds to go with five points.
The Flashes will continue the busy 10-day stretch on Friday, Nov. 14 at Xavier and then will be right back in action at the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, Nov. 16 against Niagara.
