
Golden Flashes Visit Xavier for Friday Night Women’s Hoops

Kent State women's basketball visits Xavier on Friday night for the second of four games in a 10-day stretch. Tip inside of the Cintas Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (1-2) locked in defensively over the final 20 minutes to secure a 79-55 victory over Walsh on Monday evening. Kent State forced 17 second-half turnovers while holding its guest to only 20 points. Mya Babbitt led the way with 23 points and Corynne Hauser added 21 points. Tatiana Thomas grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and scored five points to make an impact off the bench.
Junior Mya Babbitt is also the top scorer on the season at 14.3 points per game. The sharpshooter has drained a team-high six three-point field goals and is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game. After going 635 days between regular season appearances, redshirt junior Corynne Hauser is second in scoring at 11.0 points per game. Junior Riley Rismiller has been productive around the basket with averages of 8.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers (2-1) will play their fourth of a five-game homestand at the Cintas Center to open the season. After starting with wins against New Haven and Purdue Fort Wayne, Xavier lost to Dayton, 71-66, on Tuesday.
Transfers Mariyah Noel (Ole Miss) and Savannah White (Indiana State) lead the team in scoring and rebounding. Noel is the No. 2 scorer in the BIG EAST at 19.0 points per contest with back-to-back 22-point performances and grabs 7.0 rebounds per game. White (9.7 ppg) ranks second in the conference with seven blocked shots and is grabbing a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game. Preseason All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention selection Meri Kanerva leads the Musketeers with 109 minutes played and is averaging 4.3 points per contest.

• Kent State improved 7-0 all-time vs. Xavier with an 89-69 victory inside of the M.A.C. Center last season.
