Kent State will play its third women's basketball contest of the week on Sunday, hosting Niagara for Team IMPACT Day at the M.A.C. Center. Tip is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and the first 200 fans will receive a free Flash bobblehead.
A 9-0 run to end the third quarter helped the Golden Flashes (2-2) beat Xavier, 68-60, on Friday night for their first road victory of the season. Mya Babbitt, who finished with a team-high 16 points, scored six points and drew a charge during the stretch. With the lead at just one and under a minute remaining, Corynne Hauser calmly walked into a three-point shot from the wing to make it a two-possession game again. Rylee Kalocay then stripped the ball for her second steal of the night and knocked down a free throw to give her a career-high 10 points. Kent State added two more defensive stops and three free throws to secure the victory. Riley Rismiller matched her season-high with 12 rebounds to lead the Flashes to a 38-25 advantage on the glass.
Junior Mya Babbitt is also the top scorer on the season at 14.8 points per game and needs just two more to reach 500 career points. The sharpshooter has drained a team-high eight three-point field goals and is second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game. After going 635 days between regular season appearances, redshirt junior Corynne Hauser is second in scoring at 11.8 points per game. Hauser has returned to her role as closer and scored seven points during the fourth period to secure the victory Friday night. Junior Riley Rismiller has been productive around the basket with averages of 7.5 points and team-best 8.5 rebounds per contest.
