LEWISBURG, Penn. – The Kent State lacrosse team hit the road on Tuesday for their fifth contest of the season at Bucknell. The Flashes were unable to overcome a quick start by the Bison, falling 17-6 and bringing their 2025 record to 2-3.
Bucknell wasted no time getting started in the first quarter as the Bison took a six-goal lead less than seven minutes into the game. Haleigh Greenberg found the back of the net for the fifth straight game to open the season on an effort assisted by Zayda Crumpton to get the Flashes on the board. Following a response by Bucknell, Greenberg found her second goal of the game assisted by Emily Bond to make the score 7-2. The Bison would find two more goals before the end of the opening quarter to improve their lead to 9-2 entering the second period of play.
The Bison opened the second quarter with similar strength to the first, adding two more goals in the first seven minutes of the quarter to build an 11-2 advantage. Kent State was able to respond through Peyton Gellin's third goal of the season with an assist by Megan Cook. Following another Bucknell goal, Riley Floyd found the back of the net for the third consecutive game as Ava Todd recorded her first assist of the season to make the game 12-4. The Bison would find another goal before the half to establish a 13-4 halftime advantage.
The third quarter of play was all Bucknell, as they outscored the Flashes 3-0 to take a 16-4 advantage into the fourth quarter. After Bucknell opened the scoring with another goal five minutes into the final period, Kent State began to establish some late-game momentum. Crumpton found the back of the net twice, successfully converting a free position shot before adding an unassisted man-down goal to improve her season tally to seven goals. Despite the Flashes outscoring the Bison 2-1 in the fourth quarter, the game ended 17-6 in Bucknell's favor.
The Flashes will return home as they begin a three-game home stand at Dix Stadium against Lindenwood on Sunday, March 2, at noon.
