
Women’s Basketball Back in Action Wednesday Night at NIU

The Kent State women's basketball team hits the road for a Mid-American Conference game against Northern Illinois on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (15-7, 8-2 MAC) have won five in a row by 14 or more points and led by as many as 36 in a 73-51 rivalry victory over Akron on Saturday. Senior Jenna Batsch followed a career scoring performance in the previous contest with a game-high 25 points in just 23 minutes of action. Sophomore Janae Tyler reached double-digits for the fifth time in the last six games with 14 points and sophomore Mya Babbitt added 13 points. Sophomore Riley Rismiller controlled the paint and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch (16.5 ppg, 4.0 apg) is the only player in the conference averaging at least 16 points and four assists per game. Bridget Dunn (8.5 ppg) ranks fifth in the nation in defensive rebounding (8.6 drpg) and 26th overall in rebounds per game (9.9). Mya Babbitt (11.9 ppg) leads the MAC with 49 three-pointers and has made 38.8% of attempts from beyond the arc. Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impact with averages of 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Dionna Gray averages 8.4 points and 4.8 assists per game while leading Kent State to a 13-4 record in games played this season.
Scouting Northern Illinois
The Huskies (9-12, 3-7 MAC) seek their first win of the month after falling to Buffalo, 84-58, on Saturday. Guard Chelby Koker leads NIU with averages of 12.9 points and 5.1 assists per game. Forward Brooke Stonebraker adds 11.3 points per game and team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. Guard Lexi Carlsen is the top three-point shooter in the conference at 44.8% and has made 47 three-pointers, which is tied for third.
