
Malanda Captures Third Straight Triple Jump Title, Flashes Place Second at MAC Men’s Indoor T&F Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Alexandre Malanda soared into the record book on Saturday with his third consecutive triple jump gold as Kent State placed second at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Men's Track and Field Championship.
Malanda is just the second competitor ever to win the triple jump at three consecutive indoor conference meets. His winning mark of 52'4.75" was nearly two feet further than the runner-up. Nicolas Saviron also scored in the event for the Golden Flashes and placed third with a jump of47'-11.25".
Liam Vinskovich repeated as high jump champion with a season-best height of 6'-9.75".
Kent State claimed the top two spots in the 60-meter dash. Jaheim Jones crossed the finish line first in 6.71 seconds, tying his personal-best. Sean Callahan Jr. was close behind with a time of 6.78 seconds. Callahan Jr. also scored in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13 seconds for sixth place.
The Flashes continued their dominance in the heptathlon, as Joel Enander claimed gold with 5,410 points. Kent State's third different student-athlete to win the event in the past three years, Enander also earned MAC Freshman Field Performer of the Year honors. Linkon Tyrrell (4,666) and Mason Murphy (4,516) finished fourth and sixth, respectively, to earn points in the multis competition.
Dylan McBride earned All-MAC Second Team accolades to lead a strong showing in the mid-distance races. McBride placed second in 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.51, while Preston Rieger finished fourth in 1:53.82 and Caleb Bost was fifth in 1:54.67. In the mile, Baidy Ba placed third in 4:15.05, Ethan Yost was fourth in 4:16.05 and Isaac Perez took sixth in 4:20.33.
Kristian Kneffler finished second in the pole vault with a height of 16'-5.25" and Layne Studer cleared 15'-7.25" for fourth.
Zamen Siyoum clocked a time of 8.18 seconds for second in the 60-meter hurdles. Beau Harkelroad added a point by finishing in 8.24 seconds for sixth.
In the shot put, Charles Pawlosky placed third with a throw of 56'-0" and Tony Lambert recorded a PR of 52'-10.75" for fifth.
Kent State's 4x400-meter relay team of Fabio Justo, Harkelroad, Owen Miller and Rieger took third in 3:22.35.
