CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was announced on Tuesday by the Mid-American Conference that Kent State's Sydney Davis has won MAC Goalkeeper of the Week. This comes after a week where she recorded wins over Radford and Central Michigan, helping the Flashes open MAC play 1-0.
While a good defensive performance by the Kent State team kept Davis from facing many shots on goal in her 25 minutes of action against Radford, she allowed just one goal in the 20-9 win over the Highlanders. Davis put up a heroic performance in Kent State's 10-9 overtime win over Central Michigan to open MAC play. She played all 64 minutes in goal, tallying 13 saves for the Flashes, including a crucial free position shot save in overtime to keep Kent State alive.Â
On the season, Davis leads Kent State with 340 minutes played in goal, tallying 49 saves and accumulating a 5-3 record. The weekly award marks the sophomore's first MAC Goalkeeper of the Week honor in her collegiate career.
Davis and the Flashes return to action this Sunday, March 23, as MAC play continues at Dix Stadium with Detroit Mercy coming to town. Opening draw is slated for 1 p.m.
