Youngstown, OHIO - The Kent State Lacrosse team finished strong offensively on the road as they scored four goals in the final eight minutes to put away the Youngstown State Penguins and get a Mid-American Conference win by a score of 8-4.
Both defenses started off strong in the first half as the score was 2-1 in favor of YSU heading into the halftime break. Junior Eva Anderson scored the first goal of the game for the Flashes in the first quarter.
Kent State's offense then picked it up in the third quarter as seniors Zayda Crumpton and Meghan Haddow scored within a minute of each other early in the third quarter to give the Flashes a lead that they would not give up for the remainder of the contest.
However, the Penguins did not go away as they scored two goals in the quarter to tie it up at four a piece heading into the final frame. That was when the Blue and Gold would end the game on four straight goals from Crumpton, senior Lizzie Lundeen, and two from junior Morgan Halli.
Halli led the team in goals as she finished with a hat trick. Crumpton finished with two goals as Lundeen contributed offensively with a goal and two assists.Â
Leading the way defensively for KSU was Haddow with three caused turnovers. Junior Allie Bradley, and sophomores Anna Zucconi and Amber Shinsky each picked up three ground balls in the win as Sydney Davis finished with six saves in net.
