KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team is set to kick off Spring break with a pair of home games at Dix Stadium this weekend. The Flashes will host St. Francis on Friday evening at 4 p.m. before ACC opponent California comes to Kent on Monday, with opening draw set for noon.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State hosted Lindenwood last Sunday at Dix Stadium, suffering a 14-11 defeat to the Lions to fall to 2-4 on the season. After a quick start, Lindenwood held a four-goal lead entering the fourth quarter. A valiant comeback effort by the Flashes, in which they trimmed the Lions' lead down to one, fell just short as Lindenwood was able to break down the Kent State press and score two open-net goals to secure the win. Despite the result, two Flashes recorded hat tricks in the game as midfielder Zayda Crumpton finished with four goals and one assist, as she now has a team-high 16 points in 2025, while attacker Lizzie Lundeen scored three goals and had one assist to improve her season-high goalscoring tally to 13 goals. Crumpton also led Kent State on Sunday with four draw controls, followed closely by Megan Cook with three. Freshman attacker Katlyn Binnix was the other Flash with a multi-goal game, finding the back of the net twice. Haleigh Greenberg led Kent State with two assists in the contest as she now leads the team with six assists this season. Defensively, Sidney Dering led the Flashes with two caused turnovers against Lindenwood, while Camryn Meek and Morgan Halli each had two ground balls.
SCOUTING ST FRANCIS
The Red Flash enter Friday's game with a 1-4 record in 2025. They opened their season with consecutive losses to MAC opponents Akron and Youngstown State before recording their lone win at Duquesne, 17-11. St. Francis has a common opponent with Kent State, as they fell 14-9 to Lindenwood on February 27. Most recently, the Red Flash traveled to Charlotte to face the 49ers on Tuesday, falling 19-12.
SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
The Golden Bears will face Pitt in their third ACC contest of the season on Saturday before taking the short bus ride to Kent for Monday's game. California is 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in ACC conference play thus far, with wins over UC Davis and Oregon. Most recently, the Golden Bears hosted Virginia last Saturday in a game won 20-9 by the Cavaliers.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flashes are 2-3 in the all-time series against St. Francis after claiming an 18-12 win in last season's matchup between the schools in Loretto. The teams have played each year since 2019, except for 2021, with Kent State's other win in the series coming on the road in 2022.
Monday's game will be the first ever contest between Kent State and California in women's lacrosse.
