Cleveland– Anna Zucconi and Sydney Davis took home two of three Mid-American Conference player of the week awards for Kent State for the second time in three weeks on Tuesday. Zucconi earned defensive player of the week as Davis won goalkeeper of the week for their performances against Louisville and Butler last week.
Anna Zucconi was once again a force for Kent State in their two games against Louisville and Butler, causing six turnovers and grabbing nine ground balls. Against The Cardinals, she caused three turnovers and grabbed three ground balls and was a main reason for The Golden Flashes staying close with Louisville the entire game.Â
Their defense was a main reason for that, holding an ACC school to under 10 goals. Against Butler, she was a ground ball magnet with six, while also causing three turnovers in the win against the Bulldogs.
Sydney Davis finished the week with an impressive 25 saves with 11 against Louisville and 14 against Butler. Her presence in net has been a big reason for Kent State's best four-game start in program history. Davis and Zucconi have both been a big reason why the Golden Flashes as a defensive unit have allowed the fewest goals of anyone in the MAC.
Zucconi, Davis and the rest of the Golden Flashes(3-1) will be back in action later today as they take on the Xavier Musketeers at 4 P.M. at Dix Stadium.
