
Kent State Lacrosse Begins MAC Play With Trip To Eastern Michigan

Ypsilanti, MICH - The Kent State Lacrosse team will begin Mid-American Conference play on the road on Saturday as they travel to Ypsilianti to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday at 1 P.M.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Lacrosse team ran into a tough test against the Oregon Ducks of the Big Ten on Monday on the road by a score of 15-1.
Senior midfielder Zayda Crumpton scored the lone goal of the contest in the first quarter for the Blue and Gold at the end of the first quarter. The Ducks would then score 12 unanswered goals to finish out the game for a 14-goal win.
Oregon held the advantage at the circle with 12 draw controls compared to four for Kent State, while out-shooting the Golden Flashes by a count of 33-13.
Junior Allie Bradley and sophomore Anna Zucconi anchored the Flashes on the defensive end with three caused turnovers each, while Crumpton also finished with four ground balls.
Scouting Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan is off to a good start entering MAC play with a 5-4 record overall. They have also played five common opponents as the Golden Flashes so far this season in non-conference play. The Eagles have wins over Butler, Lindenwood, Xavier, and Oregon, while losing to Cincinnati.
Senior Mackenzie Blackwell at attack for the Eagles will be a name to keep an eye on as she is currently second in the conference in goals coming in with 26, while also contributing nine assists.Â
Leading the MAC in assists is redshirt senior Tracy Grollman with 17 coming into the game. Emerson Henry and Kelsey Dague also both have double digits goals this season with 15 and 11 respectively.
Two EMU defenders are also in the top five in the conference in caused turnovers as junior Karly Low and sophomore Erin Humphrey have produced a combined 26 caused turnovers to start the season. Junior goalkeeper Maddy Porter will start in net for the Eagles and has produced 79 saves for her team this season.
Series History
Eastern Michigan is in its fourth year as a program as Saturday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the two relatively new programs. EMU currently holds a 2-1 edge over the Flashes after winning the previous two contests.
Up Next
After a trip to Eastern Michigan, the Golden Flashes will return to Kent to play two home games in three days. The first will come on Wednesday against rival Akron for another MAC contest at 5 P.M. inside Dix Stadium.
