
Flashes Take Long Flight To Oregon To Take On The Ducks

Kent, OHIO - The Kent State Lacrosse team will fly out to the pacific northwest to take on the Oregon Ducks of the Big Ten on Monday in Eugene. Game time is set for 3 P.M. EST(12 P.M. local).
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes fell to the Cincinnati Bearcats at home on Friday by a score of 13-7. The difference in the game was a nine-goal second quarter from the Bearcats that gave them a comfortable lead that they would hang on to for a win.
The Golden Flashes started out strong on the defensive end as they held the Bearcats to just one goal with it being tied at one a piece heading into the second quarter. The Blue and Gold were then outscored by seven goals in the second frame to bring the score to 10-3 at the half.
KSU put up a valiant effort in the fourth quarter with three goals and held Cincinnati to just one, but it was not enough, as the visitors went on to win by a six-goal advantage.
Possession was also another big key in the contest as Cincinnati won the draw control count 18-5. Morgan Handzel finished the game with 16 draw controls for the Bearcats.
Senior Zayda Crumpton led KSU offensively with three points off of two goals and one assist while Morgan Halli, Meghan Haddow, Katlyn Binnix, Megan Klepacki and Riley Floyd also contributedÂ
Scouting Oregon
Oregon comes into the contest with a 5-2 record, and while the two teams have no common opponents so far, Oregon was defeated by Mid-American conference foe Eastern Michigan in Eugene by a score of 12-9 earlier this season.
Leading the Ducks in scoring is senior midfielder who has 15 goals and four assists so far this season. She also leads the team in ground balls with 16 and 13 caused turnovers on the defensive end.Â
On attack, Oregon has two more players with double digit goals this season with Emma Ing(12) and Gabby Santucci(11). Sophomore Lilly Fortin leads the team in assists with eight.
Series History
Monday will mark the first ever meeting between the Ducks and the Golden Flashes in the eighth season as a program for Kent State.

After a long flight back east, the Golden Flashes will gear up for the start of Maction. They will take on Eastern Michigan on the road on Saturday in the first conference game of the season in Ypsilanti at 1 P.M.
