
Kent State Heads To Massachusetts For First Ever Conference Game With UMass

Amherst, MASS- The Golden Flashes will compete in their final game of the 2026 regular season on Saturday when they head east to take on the University of Massachusetts at noon.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes dropped their final home game of the season on Saturday in Mid-American Conference play to the Central Michigan Chippewas by a score of 15-9. Despite the loss, KSU junior Morgan Halli excelled, finishing with six of the team's nine goals.
Both teams started off on fire on the offensive end with 10 goals in the first fifteen minutes between the two. Senior Zayda Crumpton started off the scoring and the Chippewas answered with the next two.Â
Halli would then score the four remaining goals in the quarter for the blue and gold as both teams answered each other in scoring to head into the second tied at five goals each. CMU would continue the scoring with three goals in the second quarter compared to one from Kent State for an 8-6 Chippewa advantage at the halftime break.
Central Michigan continued to separate in the third quarter, holding the Flashes to just one goal while they were able to score three of their own. Kent State put up a fight in the final frame with two goals but it wasn't enough to catch-up with the Chippewas, as they lost the game by a six-goal margin.Â
Halli led the offense as she produced the highest goal total of any Golden Flash this season with six. She was also able to contribute an assist as senior Meghan Haddow and junior Megan Klepacki also contributed an assist. Crumpton also had a good day offensively with three goals.Â
CMU was able to win the possession battle at the draw circle as they won the draw control category by a count of 20-6. On the defensive end, sophomore Anna Zucconi once again led with three caused turnovers for the Flashes.Â
Junior Allie Bradley and senior Riley Floyd each contributed four and three ground balls respectively. Junior goalkeeper once again finished in double-digits in saves for the Golden Flashes as she finished with 10.
Scouting UMass
The Minutewomen have had a successful first season in the MAC with a 13-2 overall record and 6-0 in conference. The two losses this season for UMass came against UConn and Penn State.
Kassidy Morris leads the team in goals and points with 85 points off of 58 goals and 27 assists. She is currently second in the MAC and sixth in the country in goals per game. Dylan Lyons has 44 goals this season for Massachusetts while Ava Connaughton and Katie Peterson have contributed 27 and 21 goals respectively. Connaughton also leads the team in assists with 35.
On the defensive end, UMass is led by Bridget Valentine who is tied for second in the conference in caused turnovers with Anna Zucconi with 31 to go along with 28 ground balls. Bayley Duffy leads the team in ground balls this season with 39 which is sixth in the conference.Â
Cate Marshall has produced 124 Draw Controls this season for the Minutewomen which leads the conference as well. In net for Massachusetts will be Duffy who has saved 115 shots this year.
Series History
Saturday's meeting will be the first all-time between the two schools as the Minutewomen recently joined the Mid-American Conference this season. UMass previously competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
