Farrah Young enters her second season as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball staff.
Young was a multi-sport student-athlete at Lenoir-Rhyne, earning four letters for both basketball and outdoor track and field. On the hardwood, she appeared in 84 career games and helped the Bears to 65 victories. Young played for Starkey during his final season at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2013-14 when the team finished the season as No, 25 in the USA Today Poll. The Bears captured the South Atlantic Conference regular season crown earned the top seed in the 2014 NCAA Division II Tournament Southeast Region Regional.
This past spring, Young anchored Lenoir-Rhyne’s 4x100 relay team that set a school record with a time of 48.00 to place second at the SAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She was part of teams that hold three of the top four times in the event. Additionally, she was a member of teams that own the four fastest 4x400 meter relay times in school history. Young also makes appearances in the Bears’ record book for the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and long jump.
The Hickory, N.C. native interned with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund during the summer and has served as a counselor at basketball camps hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne and high schools in the surrounding area.
Young graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in May 2017 with a degree in sports management with a business minor and is currently pursuing her master's in sport and recreation management.
