The Kent State men's and women's cross country teams will return to Oxford, Ohio for the second time this season on Saturday (Oct. 28) for the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships.
The men's 8K will start the day at 11 a.m. and the women's 6K is scheduled for noon. An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of both races with the top 14 individuals in each race earning named all-conference honors.
Weather forecasts are calling for rain accompanied by temperatures in the mid-to-low 40s. These are much different conditions than when the Golden Flashes competed in 90-degree heat and a blazing sun on the same course at the RedHawk Rumble just over one month ago.
Last Time Out
Kent State competed in the final regular season meet of the season at the Penn State National Open on Oct. 13.
On the men's side of the meet, the Golden Flashes placed 11th in the 14-team 5.2-mile race with 294 points. Sophomore Clark Bookman (26:23) was the team's top competitor and finished 41st. Freshman Grzegorz Kunc (26:25) was right behind and finished 45th.
The women's team finished 16th out of 17 teams in the women's 6K race. Freshman Maddie Dunlap (21:24) paced the Flashes with a 44th-place finish.
Flashback to Last Year's MAC Championships
Kent State was unable to take advantage of being the host school of the MAC Championships a year ago and finished last in both races.
Clark Bookman led the men with a time of 26:47.3 for 43rd-place.
Swann Phelippeau paced the women with a time of 22:58.3 to finish 52nd.
