
Golden Flashes Lose to RMU in Dix Stadium Debut

KENT, Ohio – Kent State lacrosse launched its 2019 home slate this afternoon against Robert Morris, where they were defeated by the Colonials, 11-6, in the inaugural home game at Dix Stadium.
For the second consecutive game, Abby Jones fired a hat trick for the Golden Flashes bringing her season total to a team-high six goals. Lluna Katz recorded two goals in the game, including the team's first lacrosse goal at Dix Stadium with five minutes to go in the first half.
Grace Merrill was stellar in goal for the second straight game, allowing just 11 goals on 36 shots and recorded a season-high 19 saves.
The Flashes faced a 5-1 halftime deficit but fought back with three straight goals to start the second half. Jones sparked the Kent State run, hammering home a shot with an assist from Kelli Bailey. Katz and Jones scored the next two goals, respectively, as the Flashes tallied three goals in seven minutes to bring them within one goal, 5-4.
Robert Morris outscored the Flashes 6-2 to close out the final 20 minutes. The Colonials were led by Kelsey Nelson and Bailey Christianson, who each recorded two goals.

The Flashes will head to Indiana for a two-game road trip that includes a matchup with Butler on Friday, Feb. 22 before facing Notre Dame on Sunday, Feb. 24.
