Golden Flashes Continue Road Trip at Detroit Mercy

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State Lacrosse team (0-6) will look to earn its first win in program history this Saturday as they head north to take on Detroit Mercy (1-5).
This is the second game of the Golden Flashes' three-game road trip. In the first game, as Kent State dropped its first contest against No. 12 Michigan. They will end the road trip with a trip to St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday.
"We are still in the hunt for our first win of the season, and we'd love to get over that hump against Detroit," said Head Coach Brianne Tierney. "Our goals remain the same. We want to focus on working as a team, moving the ball and protecting the 8-meter arc. This team continues to improve with each game and learn how to respond on the field."
On the season, seven different Flashes have scored a goal and three different flashes are in double digits in points for the season. Abby Jones (13), Megan Kozar (11) and Lluna Katz (10) lead the Flashes in points, while Katz leads the team in goals (10). Katz is off to a great start to her season, scoring 10 goals on 13 shots on goal with only six turnovers.
Team captain Grace Merrill has led the flashes in goal this season, tallying 70 saves in just six games thus far. Merrill is sixth in the country, averaging 11.67 saves per contest. Her 70 saves rank 15th in the country.
Jones and Kozar are second and third in goals scored for the Flashes this season, scoring eight and seven respectively. Jones also leads the Flashes with five assists.
Scouting Detroit Mercy
The Titans sole win came over Butler, 17-13, in their home opener. Detroit Mercy is led in scoring by Lexie Kinmond (12g, 11a) and Morgan Girardi (11g, 2a) on the season.
Kaitlyn Wandelt (10g, 6a) anchors the Titans' midfield and leads the team with 24 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Alison McDonough leads the Titans in goal with 57 saves in six games.

Kent State will conclude its three-game road trip against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday, March 20. The next home game for the Flashes will be Friday, March 22, against Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m.
