Kozar Records Program Record in Loss to Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. – The Kent State lacrosse team (0-7) suffered a setback against Detroit Mercy, 16-12, despite Megan Kozar's program-record seven goals.
Kozar scored her game-high seven goals on just nine shots, bringing her season total to a team-high 14. The previous record was four goals in a single game, which Madison Rapier recorded against St. Bonaventure in the Golden Flashes' last home contest.
Lluna Katz and Graceyn Dean each fired two goals in the game, while Eva Nikolai recorded one goal. Dean and Abby Jones both tallied two assists. Grace Merrill notched 14 saves for the fourth time this season, and Malissa Beall caused a game-high three turnovers.
The Flashes won the draw control battle 16-14, but turned the ball over 27 times compared to the Titans' 16 turnovers.
Detroit Mercy (2-5) was led by Lexie Kinmond, who scored five goals and tallied four assists in the game. Kaitlyn Wandelt (3g, 5a), Kamryn Corraro (2g, 4a) and Emma Leszczak (2g, 3a) also heavily contributed to the Titans' offense.

Kent State will conclude its three-game road trip against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday, March 20. The next home game for the Flashes will be Friday, March 22, against Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m.
