ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Kent State lacrosse team dropped its first game of a three-game road trip to No. 12 Michigan 17-2 at Legacy Center.
The Golden Flashes (0-6) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a goal from Lluna Katz. She finished the game with both of the Flashes' goals. Grace Merrill recorded 15 saves for Kent State. Graceyn Dean and Madison Rapier each recorded their first career assist in the game.
"They are such a strong team, and it hasn't been that long since they were in our shoes as a startup program," said Head Coach Brianne Tierney. "It's important for our young team to face strong opponents and, despite the final score, we did not back down today. We struggled transitioning the ball, but we played cohesively on both ends of the field."
The Wolverines (8-0) scored 17 straight goals after allowing the opening goal to Katz. Michigan was led by Adriana Pendino, who scored four goals. Nadine Stewart added three Wolverine goals.
