Flashes Continue Road Trip at RMU

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team (0-1) heads to Moon Township, Pa. to take on Robert Morris (0-1) Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. in the second of three-straight road contests to open the 2020 season.
The Golden Flashes started their opening game strong, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead over Ohio State on Wednesday night. The Buckeyes came back to pick up the win, but Kent State flashed its potential throughout the game and are hungry to get back on the field.
Last Time Out
Sophomore Abby Jones was the best player on the field in the Flashes' opening game, scoring five goals and controlling five draws in the loss. The 2019 First Team All-ASUN honoree picked up right where she left off a season ago, recording her fifth career five-point game. It was her second career five-goal performance.
Fellow sophomore Madison Rapier scored the Flashes' first goal of the season and posted her second-career hat trick against the Buckeyes.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials are coming off their winningest regular season in program history. They return 21 players from last year's squad including senior attacker Mackenzie Gandy who recorded 70 total points (47g, 23a) a season ago. Gandy started the 2020 campaign off leading the Colonials with four points (3g, 1a) in a 13-8 loss to Ohio State.
Series History
The Golden Flashes faced off against Robert Morris in just their second game in program history last season. The Colonials earned a 11-6 victory inside Dix Stadium. Jones led Kent State with four points (3g, 1a) in the defeat. RMU fired 30 shots on goal in the contest last season, but sophomore Grace Merrill recorded 19 saves in one of her best performances of her freshman season.
