Track and Field to Hold Kent State Tune Up Saturday at KSU Field House

The track and field team will finish the indoor regular season with the Kent State Tune Up on Saturday, February 22.
Competition inside of the Kent State Field House will begin at 10 a.m. with the women's long jump, women's weight throw and women's 5,000-meter run. The men's 4x400-meter relay will bring the meet to an end and is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
Admission is $5 for all spectators.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State has 63 student-athletes scheduled for competition, including 33 men and 30 women.
Four Golden Flashes who rank in the top-50 nationally will be in action. Sophomore Gabby Bailey is 28th in women's shot put with a personal-best throw of 52'-11", while junior Grace Tennant is 47th (51'-7.25"). Junior Jake Wickey's personal-best weight throw mark of 68'-0.25" ranks 30th. Senior Christian Champen is No. 37 in men's pole vault, having cleared 17'-1.5" in each of the past two meets.
Junior Alyssa Matheny cleared a MAC-best 5'-8.5" in the high jump at this past weekend's Doug Raymond National Qualifier.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Demaline, redshirt senior Walter Petzel and redshirt senior Trevor Detillion all rank in the top five in the conference for men's shot put.
Other Flashes who are among the conference's top five in their respective event scheduled to compete are freshman Lillie Franks (women's high jump), redshirt senior Brad Jones (men's high jump), redshirt senior Mitchell Kubicki (men's pole vault) and senior Ally Thompson (women's pole vault).
