Second Half Comeback Sparks Flashes Win

DETROIT, Mich. – The Kent State women's lacrosse team (4-8, 3-4 MAC) mounted a second-half comeback to beat Detroit Mercy (2-3, 2-3 MAC) to conclude a three-game road stretch.
The Flashes shot out to a 5-1 lead with a well-balanced scoring attack. The Titans fired back, scoring the next six goals before Abby Jones tallied a goal near the end of the first half to bring Kent State within one.
After two early second-half goals by Detroit Mercy to extend their lead to three, 9-6, it was all Kent State the remaining of the game. The Golden Flashes outscored the Titans 11-3 over the final 23 minutes to secure the victory.
It was a career afternoon for two Golden Flashes as Jackie Wolford and Kenzie Sklar both set career-highs in goals (5) and points (7). The duo stepped up in the absence of Kent State leading goal scorer Madison Rapier to carry the Flashes to their fourth win of the season.
Jones, the Flashes second-leading scorer, recorded three goals in the game. Megan Kozar added two goals and two assists, while Pilar Lewis and Jordan Zablo each added a goal of their own.
Morgan Kubicki led the charge off the draw, securing a career-high five draw controls. Graceyn Dean also recorded a career-high with four ground balls, and Lexi Piekarski added a career-high three caused turnovers.
