KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse (4-9, 3-5 MAC) wraps up its road schedule against Central Michigan (6-6, 4-2 MAC) on Wednesday afternoon before hosting Detroit Mercy (2-4, 2-4 MAC) for Senior Day on Saturday.
The Golden Flashes are wrapping up the 2021 season and have already secured a program-record four wins. In the third year as a program, Kent State has doubled its all-time win total and played more competitive lacrosse.
Abby Jones leads the team with 40 points (32g, 8a), while Madison Rapier is second on the team with 32 points (29g, 3a). Jones is fresh off a career performance, tying a program record for goals in a single game with seven against Youngstown State. Her performance nearly willed the Flashes to victory, but they came up short in the final minutes.
Graceyn Dean also set a program record in the previous game. With two caused turnovers against YSU, Dean became the program leader for most caused turnovers in a single season. Her 18 caused turnovers this season have came in just nine career starts as a defender.
Jackie Wolford and Kenzie Sklar have been bright spots in the Flashes' attack the last half of the season. Wolford's 20 goals rank third on the team, all of which have came over the past eight games. Sklar is right behind her with 19 goals on the season.
On Saturday, Kent State Lacrosse will hold its first Senior Day in program history. Emily Speckman and Carlee Cook will be honored in the Flashes' contest against Detroit Mercy. Cook has started 32 games in her Kent State career, including all 17 as a freshman and all 13 this season. Speckman has 14 career starts, 11 of which came this season. She has appeared in 32 games for the Flashes.
