KENT, Ohio - This weekend, the Kent State lacrosse team heads on its first road trip of the 2022 season, when it travels to play a pair of teams in South Carolina. The Golden Flashes will take on Presbyterian Friday at 5 p.m., before playing Wofford Sunday at 1 p.m.
About the Golden Flashes
Kent State is coming off of a loss Wednesday at Akron, when the Zips got the best of the Flashes, 11-6. This came despite a season-best performance from sophomore Jackie Wolford, who scored three goals for Kent State, including two in the first 11 minutes. Junior Morgan Kubicki scored her first two goals of the year, and junior Kenzie Sklarย also picked up her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the game. But it wasn't enough to get past the Zips, who received six goals from Noelle Boyd.
When it comes to team stats, Kent State took more shots, 30-26, but Akron took more shots on-goal, 25-22. The Zips had 30 ground balls, while the Flashes had 29. Both sides were nearly identical in successful clear attempts, and Akron had only three less turnovers than Kent State. The Flashes had zero penalties all game, while the Zips accumulated four, equaling two minutes.
Through three games this season, the Flashes have scored 20 total goals. 18 of those goals have been unassisted, four were free positions goals, two were woman-up goals, and one was woman-down. Kent State has 67 ground balls, while their competition has only 65. They've also caused only one less turnover and had one less draw controlย than their opponents, 32-31 and 34-33, respectively.

About Wofford
The Terriers have only played one game this season at the time of this article's publishing, beating Akron at home on Friday, 14-9 (they're scheduled to play #8 Duke on Thursday). Woffordย won thanks to four goals by Elisabeth Ralph, three by Emma Gentile, and two apiece by Ally Furnari and Emma Krasinski. Wofford had two more shots than Akron, 30-28, and six more ground balls, 30-24. However, the Zips had five more draw controls than the Terriers, 16-11.
