Lax Hosts Detroit Mercy in Saturday Action

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State lacrosse team will take on Detroit Mercy on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Dix Stadium in Kent.
About the Golden Flashes
Kent State currently possesses a record of 3-8 this season, including an 0-4 record within the Mid-American Conference. But the Golden Flashes are coming off a win in their most recent game at Saint Francis on Saturday, when they defeated the Red Flash, 17-14. Kent State was led in scoring by senior and team captain Megan Kozar, whose five goals off the bench served as the catalyst to the Flashes' victory. Sophomore Jackie Wolford contributed four goals of her own, leading the team with 25 goals and 27 points on the season.
The Flashes are first in the MAC in shot percentage at .406. Junior Kenzie Sklar is also tied for the second-most goals in a game among MAC players thanks to her six-goal performance against Butler in the season opener.
About the Titans
Detroit Mercy comes into the week sporting a record of 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the MAC. Their last game was quite the back-and-forth affair, with the Titans ultimately losing in double overtime to St. Bonaventure, 18-17. Elise Harder and Cat Kopchia each picked up five points in the game, with the former scoring four goals and an assist while the latter had two goals and three assists. The Titans utilized two goalies in the game, with Meredith Leavell making eight saves in nearly 48 minutes of action before being substituted for Hannah Shrader, who logged the final 20 minutes and got four saves in an overtime loss.
Kent State beat Detroit Mercy in both games in which they matched up in 2021, defeating the Titans on the road, 17-12, before defeating them at home, 20-11.
