
Lax Heads to Central Michigan and Marquette

KENT, Ohio - This week, the Kent State lacrosse team travels to Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan Thursday at 3 p.m., before heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday at 4Â p.m. to take on Marquette.
About the Flashes
Kent State is currently 2-5 on the season, including 0-2 within the MAC. In their last outing on Friday, the Golden Flashes lost at home to Cincinnati, 17-11. Sophomore Jackie Wolford scored three goals in the loss, while senior Abby Jones picked up two goals and two assists along the way. Junior Kenzie Sklar scored two goals as well, putting her season total at 18 (first on the team). Sklar's 18 goals is also first in the conference among players to participate in seven games. This amounts to an average of 2.57 goals per game, which is fourth in the MAC. Wolford is not far behind, scoring 2.00 goals per game, tied for seventh in the conference.
Jones is sixth in the MAC in assists with eight through seven games, for an average of 1.14 per game. Sklar and Jones also rank in the top 10 in the conference in points per game and shots per game (Wolford does for the latter category as well). Junior goalkeeper Madison Flannigan ranks third in the MAC in goals against average and saves percentage at 11.47 and .466 respectively. She's also second in the conference in saves per game with 9.86.
As a team, the Golden Flashes are first in the MAC in woman-up goals per game with an average of 1.14 per game. They're also second in ground balls per game with 21.29.
About the Chippewas
Central Michigan is 3-3 this season and 1-0 within MAC play. In their latest game, the Chippewas gave #8 Michigan a run for their money, ultimately losing to the Wolverines 17-13. But this was the lowest-scoring game for Central Michigan in a four-game stretch, having won the three games previous with goal totals of 16, 18, and 18 again.
Maggie Diebold leads the team in goals with 15, and her average of 2.50 goals per game is fifth in the MAC. Audrey Whiteside is first on the team in assists with an average of 1.33 per game (good enough for third in the conference). She's also third in the MAC in points per game with 3.17. Furthermore, Central Michigan's 18-6 win over Detroit Mercy on March 2 is tied for the most combined points in the MAC in a game this season at 27 and first in the MAC in assists with nine.
The Flashes are 0-3 lifetime against the Chippewas.
About the Golden Eagles
Marquette is 3-4, having not played a conference game yet within the Big East. In their most recent game at Niagara on Sunday, they lost 12-9. Junior Mary Schumar scored three goals and had an assist in that one.
The Golden Eagles have been outscored by their opponents thus far this season, 103-94, and have less assists as well, 40-39. But they have a higher shot percentage than their competition, .461-.438, and have more free position goals than their opponents, 26-22. But they have more turnovers than their competition as well, 125-96.
The only other time that the Flashes and Golden Eagles have played each other was last season, when Marquette beat Kent State 19-8Â at Dix Stadium.
