Lacrosse Places 17 on Academic All-MAC Squad

CLEVELAND — Kent State lacrosse tied its program record with 17 Academic All-MAC honorees, as the Mid-American Conference named a total of 84 student-athletes to this year's squad on Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes' 17 student-athletes were the tied for the most in the conference.
The Academic All-MAC Team honors student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Senior Eva Nikolai was one of only four student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Kelli Bailey, Meghan Cawood, Madison Flannigan, Megan French, Abby Jones, Allison Kortowich, Megan Kozar, Morgan Kubicki, Lexi Piekarski, Madison Rapier and Kenzie Sklar joined Nikolai in earning spots on the team for the second year in a row.
Anna Gellin, Lily Miller, Jackie Wolford, Anna Woodhams and Jordan Zablo were each named to the team for the first time.
Head coach Brianne Tierney's team achieved success both on the field and in the classroom during the spring semester. The Flashes set a program record for wins and qualified for the inaugural MAC Lacrosse Tournament while earning a 3.473 spring GPA, the team's eighth consecutive term with a 3.3 or higher.
