
Kent State Volleyball to Host Ohio In Season Finale Wednesday Night

The Kent State volleyball team will play one final home match as the 2023 campaign closes against Ohio on Wednesday. First serve at the M.A.C. Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State (6-22, 2-15 MAC) look to bounce back after losing a pair of matches at Eastern Michigan this past weekend.
Outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire leads the attack and ranks third in the Mid-American Conference with 3.90 kills per set. McGuire surpassed 500 career kills against Western Michigan on Oct. 5 and is averaging the most kills per set by a Golden Flash since the 2009 season.
The defense is led by libero Bryn Roberts, who ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.29). Roberts tallied her 1,000th career dig against Miami on Oct. 13.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The Bobcats (17-12, 12-5 MAC) are coming off two series sweeps against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. Ohio has not lost a set during this stretch.
Middle blocker Caitlin O'Farrell is ninth in the MAC with 3.47 kills per set and owns a .338 hitting percentage that ranks fifth. Opposite Anna Kharshynska (2.90 kps) and outside hitters Caroline Clippard (2.70 kps) and Kam Hunt (2.49 kps) are also offensive threats. Libero Sam Steele is fifth in the MAC with 4.24 digs per set.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State is 27-65 all-time against Ohio. The Golden Flashes have lost 11 of the last 12 meetings. The most recent victory was the final match of the 2021 season at the M.A.C. Center.
