
Flashes Beat the Bulldogs

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Kent State lacrosse team won 16-11 against Butler this afternoon.
The Bulldogs came out strong taking the lead 1-0, after two minutes into the first quarter. Not long after, Zayda Crumpton scored to tie the game 1-1. Morgan Kubicki secured the lead for the Golden Flashes and scored bringing the score 2-1. Keeping the team momentum going, Sidney Dering scored with six minutes left in the quarter. Jackie Wolford scored back-to-back goals taking the score 5-1.
In the second quarter, Allie Lee continued Kent State's streak and scored with an assist by Kubicki. Scoring her third goal of the game, Wolford scored off a free position shot. After a green card on Butler, Freshman Meghan Haddow scored her first career goal and brought the score 8-1. Kubicki brought the Golden Flashes to a score of 9-1 after a turnover on the Bulldogs. Butler fought back scoring two more goals, 9-3. Kubicki earned her fourth assist of the game on a goal scored by Kenzie Sklar, and her third goal of the game bringing the score 11-5 at the half. Madison Flannigan made eight saves on 13 shots on goal by the end of the quarter.
Going into the third quarter, Wolford started out increasing the Flashes lead 12-5, followed by another goal after a foul by Butler. Kenzie Sklar scored her second goal of the game bringing the score 14-6. Flannigan and the Flashes defense only allowed one goal from five shots on goal in the third quarter.
Butler started off the fourth quarter with two goals making the score 14-8. After a draw control by Peyton Gellin, Kenzie Sklar secured her third goal. Crumpton scored her second goal of the game bringing the score 16-9. The Bulldogs picked up the intensity and scored two goals with two minutes left.
Up next, the Golden Flashes travel to San Diego to take on San Diego State on Friday March 3 at 10 p.m ET and UC Davis on Sunday March 5 at 3 p.m ET.
