Lacrosse Beats Chippewas to Move into MAC Lead

KENT, Ohio - Kent State moved into a tie for first place in the Mid-American Conference women's lacrosse standings with a 17-15 win over co-leader Central Michigan on Saturday at Dix Stadium.
The Golden Flashes (8-7, 5-1 MAC) led by as many as four goals while handing the Chippewas their first conference loss of the season. It was also Kent State's first program victory over Central Michigan.
Jackie Wolford and Allie Lee led the attack and combined for the Flashes' final seven goals of the game. Wolford finished with a game-high six goals and Lee scored a career-best five goals.
Kent State led 5-1 late in the first quarter before the Chippewas tied it at 6-6 10 minutes into the second. Wolford netted two goals in the final two minutes of the period to give the Flashes an 8-7 halftime lead.
Central Michigan scored the first three goals in the third period for its only lead of the day, 10-8. The next four goals went to Kent State, which took momentum and a 12-11 lead into the final quarter.
With the game was tied 15-15, Lee scored the winning goal off a pass by Wolford with 4:15 remaining. Wolford added a final tally with 1:32 on the clock. Zayda Crumpton then recorded her sixth draw control of the game, and the Flashes were able to run out the clock. Crumpton broke the program's single-season draw controls record in the victory and has 62 during her freshman campaign.
Madison Flannigan had 11 saves and earned her eighth victory of the season.
