DETROIT – The Kent State lacrosse team defeated Detroit Mercy, 16-15, on Wednesday for its third consecutive victory.
The Golden Flashes (9-7, 6-1 MAC) remain tied for first place in the Mid-American Conference standings and move just one victory away from a share of the first conference title in the program's five-season history.
A high-scoring first half in which neither team led by more than two goals ended in a 9-9 tie.

The Titans scored three in a row to trim Kent State's lead to 16-15 with 1:16 remaining. Crumpton was then able to get a clutch draw control, and the Flashes were able to kill the clock.
