Lacrosse Battles in MAC Tournament

The Kent State lacrosse team (10-7, 7-1 MAC) looks to add to its trophy case this week at the 2023 Mid-American Conference tournament semifinals. The Golden Flashes will compete against Central Michigan in the semifinals on Thursday, May 4 at 4 p.m. in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
Top-seeded Robert Morris will host the tournament and face off against fourth-seeded Youngstown in the other semifinal on Thursday, May 4 at 1 p.m.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes won their final four regular season games to secure a share for the first MAC regular season title in program history. Kent State outscored Youngstown State 3-0 in the fourth quarter on Saturday for an 18-16 victory.
Jackie Wolford and Kenzie Sklar are the nation's top scoring duo. Wolford leads the MAC and ranks fifth nationally with 67 goals, while Sklar has 65 goals and ranks sixth. Wolford tied Abby Jones as Kent State's all-time points leader on Saturday (162) and is one goal away from tying the conference single-season record.
Morgan Kubicki is ranked No. 1 in the conference for assists (28) and reached the 100-point milestone on Saturday. Zayda Crumpton has the program record of 77 draw controls and is ranked No. 4 in the MAC.
Madison Flannigan ranks 10th in the country with 165 saves and her .494 save percentage ranks 13th. Flannigan also broke the record for single-season record for ground balls with 44 on Saturday.
About the Chippewas
Central Michigan (8-8, 6-2 MAC) lost two of its final three games and lets a six-goal lead slip away and a 12-11 overtime loss to Robert Morris on Saturday.
The Chippewas score a MAC best 13.38 goals per game. Maggie Diebold (47) and Kelly Hoyt (41) are among the top five scorers in the conference.
Defensively, Central Michigan, causes 7.588 turnovers. Jozy Allen and Hailie Moore are tied for second in the conference with 1.50 caused turnovers per game. Goalkeeper Alexa Martel leads the MAC in save percentage (.495) and goals against average (11.20).
Series History
Kent State is 1-6 overall against Central Michigan. This season the Golden Flashes won 17-15 at home on April 22 for the first program victory over the Chippewas.
