
Flashes Battle RedHawks to Five Sets

KENT, Ohio – Kent State showed fight after dropping the first two sets before falling to Miami, 3-2 (16-25, 24-26, 25-23, 29-27, 9-15), at the M.A.C. Center on Friday.
The Golden Flashes (1-16, 0-7 MAC) totaled 19 blocks, the best single-match performance since Sept. 12, 2009. Redshirt sophomore Alexandria Connatser led the way with 11 blocks, the most by a Kent State player since Sept. 12, 2014. Juniors Mackenzie McGuire (6) and Kendall White (6) and redshirt sophomore Liliana Mechura (5) also recorded a career-high for blocks.
Senior Anna Shoemake was the offensive catalyst with a career-high 17 kills and .536 hitting percentages. McGuire added 13 kills and 12 digs for her first double-double of the season. White also had a double-double with 47 assists and 12 digs.
Kent State will return to action on Saturday afternoon. First serve against Ball State is slated for 4 p.m.
