
Furuta Posts Career-High Against Chippewas

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Freshman Lesley Furuta recorded a career-high 14 digs as Kent State fell to host Central Michigan, 3-0 (11-25, 18-25, 20-25), on Friday evening.
After struggling offensively in the first two sets, the Golden Flashes (2-23, 1-14 MAC) posted a .306 team hitting percentage in the third set.
Junior Mackenzie McGuire hit .333 with a match-high 14 kills. Senior Anna Shoemake added eight kills and five total blocks. Junior Kendall White led Kent State with 17 assists.
How it Happened…
Set 1 (11-25): Central Michigan won the first three points and never trailed while posting a .481 team hitting percentage to take the opening set.
Set 2 (18-25): Kent State battled back from a seven-point deficit to get within 14-13 before the Chippewas answered with a 4-0 run. Another 4-0 helped put the set out of reach.
Set 3 (20-25): Mackenzie McGuire posted kills on each of the first three points for an early lead. The lead changed five times before CMU put it away with a 4-0 run.

Kent State and Central Michigan will battle again on Saturday at 4 p.m.
