The Kent State women's basketball team looks for its first ever win against in-state power Ohio State on Wednesday evening. Tip inside of Value City Arena is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (3-2) posted their largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent since 2010 on Sunday, beating Niagara, 92-45, at the M.A.C. Center. Kent State moved the ball well against the full-court press and recorded assists on 25 of 32 field goals. Dionna Gray was the leader with a career-high 10 assists and also scored 10 points for her second collegiate double-double. Preseason All-MAC first team selection Janae Tyler had her best performance of the season with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting.
The third quarter has been crucial during Kent State's three-game winning streak. The Flashes have won the period by at least seven in each game and outscored their opponents 64-35 overall. Mya Babbitt has been aggressive out of the intermission and has 23 points in the third period over the three contests.
Junior Mya Babbitt is also the top scorer on the season at 13.8 points per game and surpassed 500 career points during the first quarter on Sunday. The sharpshooter has drained a team-high 10 three-point field goals and is second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game. After going 635 days between regular season appearances, redshirt junior Corynne Hauser (11.0 ppg) has found her rhythm and is averaging 14.3 points over the last three contests. Junior Riley Rismiller has been productive around the basket with averages of 7.6 points and team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest.
