
MACtion Returns to Dix Stadium Sunday as Flashes Host Detroit Mercy

KENT, Ohio โ The Kent State lacrosse team returns home for their first conference home game of the season against Detroit Mercy on Sunday afternoon. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Dix Stadium with the first 100 fans in attendance receiving a Kent State lacrosse cup.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State (5-5) started MAC play 1-0 last Sunday with a 10-9 overtime road victory at Central Michigan. The Flashes were led offensively by Peyton Gellin, who doubled her season goal-scoring tally with four goals in the game, including the walk-off game-winning goal in overtime. Gellin also led Kent State with four draw controls in the contest, while Zayda Crumpton surpassed 200 draw controls in her career. Sydney Davis won MAC Goalkeeper of the Week primarily for her performance in Sunday's win, where she had 13 saves while playing all 64 minutes in net for the Flashes. Davis had a crucial save on a free position shot early in overtime to keep Kent State alive in the game. Riley Floyd added three points for the Flashes in the win, tallying two goals and an assist, while Allie Lee, Crumpton, Morgan Halli, and Lizzie Lundeen each added a goal of their own. Lundeen improves her team-high goal total to 22 on the season. Anna Zucconi was a force defensively for the Flashes, causing a team-high four turnovers and picking up two ground balls against the Chippewas.
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
The Titans enter their first MAC contest of the season on Sunday with a 3-5 record on the season. Their most recent win came on March 7 away down South at Presbyterian, 13-9. Detroit Mercy has lost their last two contests to Lindenwood, 15-13, and Marquette, 24-10. The Titans have a balanced offensive attack with five players with double-digit goals. Libby Cuckler and Alyssa Jarvis lead the team with 14 goals each, while Maddy Camm has a team-high 23 points due in large part to her team-high 13 assists. Camm also leads the Titans in draw controls with 30 while Jarvis follows closely with 22. Defensively, Camm leads Detroit Mercy with 21 cause turnovers, while defender Katie Bilello, who's tallied 21 ground balls, has caused 20 turnovers this season. Meredith Leavell has played almost exclusively in goal for the Titans, tallying 89 saves and a 14.54 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State is 5-2 all-time against Detroit Mercy, with a 5-1 record against the Titans since the formation of the MAC conference in lacrosse. The Flashes had a five-game win streak in the series broken last season with a 15-11 defeat at Detroit Mercy, giving the Titans their first-ever MAC win over Kent State.
