KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team returns to action for the first time in ten days as the team heads to Mercyhurst on Wednesday evening. Opening draw of the non-conference contest is set for 5 p.m. in Erie, Pennsylvania. The game was initially set to take place on February 16 but was pushed back to this Wednesday due to inclement weather.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State (5-6) enters its first non-conference game in three weeks after splitting the team's opening two MAC contests. Following an overtime win at Central Michigan, the Flashes faced Detroit Mercy at Dix Stadium in the squad's most recent outing on March 23, falling 13-10 to the Titans. Syndey Davis put up an impressive effort in goal to keep the Flashes within reach, recording ten saves while playing all 60 minutes. Zayda Crumpton recorded a hat trick against the Titans, and led the team with ten draw controls, to improve her season goal-scoring tally to 22. Crumpton only trails Lizzie Lundeen, who scored twice against Detroit Mercy, atop the team's season goal-scoring tally. Lundeen has found the back of the net 24 times in 2025. Morgan Halli also scored two goals for the Flashes against the Titans to improve her season total to 13, the third most on the team. Defensively, the Flashes were led by Peyton Gellin and Allie Bradley against Detroit Mercy. Gellin caused two turnovers and led Kent State field players with four ground balls. Bradley had three ground balls and a caused turnover against the Titans.
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers enter Wednesday's matchup on a two-game win streak, winning three of their last four contests to open Northeast Conference play. Mercyhurst defeated Delaware State 22-9 on the road in their most recent outing last Saturday as junior attacker Whitley Easton had six goals, two assists, and three ground balls in the contest. Emma Cimino and Meghan Nasman also recorded hat tricks in the game. Whitley leads the Lakers with 72 points this season. Mercyhurst has split time almost evenly between two goalkeepers this season, with a combined 86 saves between them through eight games.
