
Three Flashes Score Twice in Defeat to Eastern Michigan

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team hosted Eastern Michigan on Sunday in the team's penultimate home game of 2025, falling 15-8 to the Eagles. The Flashes (6-9) fall to 1-3 in MAC play in 2025 on a day where three separate players recorded multi-goal games.
Riley Floyd opened the scoring in the tie through an assist from Megan Cook. Eastern Michigan responded with two goals before Lizzie Lundeen found the net with just seconds remaining in the opening quarter to make the score 2-2 after 15 minutes of play. The Eagles outscored Kent State 6-1 in the second quarter, with Peyton Gellin finding the Flashes' only goal assisted by Haleigh Greenberg.
With Eastern Michigan entering the second half with an 8-3 advantage, Kent State responded by scoring the first two goals of the third quarter, cutting the Eagles' advantage to just three. Zayda Crumpton tallied her first goal of the game, assisted by Allie Lee, before Lundeen found her second through a woman-up goal. Eastern Michigan responded by scoring four answered goals to take a firm seven-goal lead early in the fourth quarter. Crumpton scored her second of the game with a Kenzie gash assist before three more goals to take a dominant 15-6 lead with moments remaining in the game.
The Flashes recorded a pair of consolation goals in the final four minutes of the game as Gash tallied a goal of her own followed by Floyd's second of the day assisted by Crumpton to make the final score 15-8 in Eastern Michigan's favor.
Goalkeeper Sydney Davis had nine saves and a team-high eight ground balls in over three quarters of action in goal for Kent State. Crumpton led the Flashes with seven draw controls, followed by Sidney Dering with three. Dering was also one of five Flashes to record a caused turnover in the game.
The Flashes will hit the road for the final time in the regular season for their next game on Saturday, April 19, at Robert Morris. Opening draw is set for noon.
