
Flashes’ Comeback Falls Short in Overtime at Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Kent State lacrosse team competed in its final road contest of the 2025 season on Saturday, falling at Robert Morris 8-7 in overtime. It was the team's second overtime game of the season after defeating Central Michigan 10-9 in overtime to open MAC play.
The Flashes (6-10, 1-4) opened the game with a strong first quarter. After conceding the opening two goals, the Flashes responded with three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead after one quarter of play. Zayda Crumpton opened the scoring for the Flashes, which was quickly followed by an effort from Allie Lee to level the game at two with her eighth goal of the season. Haleigh Greenberg found the back of the net with under 90 seconds remaining in the period to give the Flashes the lead, her tenth goal of 2025, scored through a Lizzie Lundeen assist.
Robert Morris ended the run by Kent State with two consecutive goals to open the second quarter and reclaim the lead. Crumpton tallied her second goal of the game mid-way through the second period with a woman-up free position goal to level the game at four. Robert Morris concluded the scoring in the first half with a woman-up goal of their own to take a 5-4 lead into the half.
The Colonials scored the only goal in what was a relatively uneventful third quarter to take a 6-4 lead into the final period. Robert Morris added another goal to take a three-goal lead early in the fourth quarter before the Flashes sparked a comeback effort. Two goals from Crumpton, bringing her tally in the game, brought Kent State back within one goal with two minutes of regulation remaining. Just seconds later, Morgan Halli scored her 19th goal of the season to complete a three-goal fourth quarter comeback and force overtime at seven goals apiece.
After two scoreless periods of overtime, the Colonials found the back of the net in the third overtime period to collect the 8-7 conference win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Davis recorded four saves in the contest to bring her season tally to 100. Crumpton now has 37 goals in the 2025 season to lead the Flashes. Junior midfielder Peyton Gellin led Kent State with three caused turnovers and three groundballs.
The Flashes return to Dix Stadium on Saturday, April 26, for the team's season finale and senior day celebration against Youngstown State at 1 p.m.
