
Flashes Set for Senior Day Showdown with Youngstown State

KENT, Ohio – Saturday marks senior day at Dix Stadium as the Kent State lacrosse team hosts Youngstown State in the 2025 season finale. Opening draw against the Penguins is set for 1:00 p.m., with the first 100 fans receiving a replica shirsey and a KSU Lacrosse hat presented by Mac.Bid.

ABOUT THE FLASHES
Kent State (6-10, 1-4) returns to Dix Stadium for senior day after a heartbreaking 8-7 overtime defeat at MAC leaders Robert Morris last Saturday. The Flashes posted their third-best defensive effort in regulation of the season, just behind a six-goal performance against St. Francis and a five-goal effort versus Presbyterian. Midfielder Peyton Gellin stuffed the stat sheet with three caused turnovers, four draw controls, and three ground balls. The Flashes had four other players cause multiple turnovers, including two from defender Camryn Meek. Offensively, Kent State was led by Zayda Crumpton, who scored four goals for her seventh hat trick of the season. Crumpton leads the Flashes with 37 goals and 13 assists in 2025. Kent State also received goals from Allie Lee, Morgan Halli, and Haleigh Greenberg against Robert Morris. Halli is third on the team with 19 goals on the season, Greenberg reached the double-digit mark with her tenth goal of the season, and Lee now has eight goals in her senior campaign. Goalkeeper Sydney Davis reached 100 saves in the 2025 season against the Colonials after tallying four saves in the contest.
SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
The Penguins enter Saturday's game riding high after claiming their first MAC win of the season with a dominant 20-9 victory over Detroit Mercy last weekend. The win improved Youngstown State to 6-8 overall in 2025 and was the Penguins' first win since March 8 at Radford. Sophomore midfielder Katie Grottenthaler leads Youngstown State with 39 goals and 69 draw controls in 2025, ranking third in the MAC with 2.79 goals per game. Sophomore attacker Lena Cox has 22 goals and a team-high 23 assists this season, putting her second in the conference with 1.64 assists per game. Sophomore defender Tori Bustamante leads the Penguins with a MAC-leading 32 caused turnovers and 35 ground balls in 2025, while junior goalkeeper Brooke Harper has a team-high 62 saves.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flashes and Penguins are even at three wins apiece in the all-time series between the schools. Kent State currently owns a two-game win streak in the series, winning the last matchup in Dix Stadium 18-16 in 2023 before claiming a close 16-15 win in Youngstown last season.
