Golden Flashes host Golden Eagles on Sunday

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's lacrosse team (0-1) will host Marquette (0-2) at noon on Sunday in game two of a three-game homestand at Dix Stadium to begin the 2021 season.
The Golden Flashes are searching for their third win in program history when the Golden Eagles come to town this weekend.
Last Time Out
The Flashes lost their opening game of the season, 20-11, to the visiting Fresno State Bulldogs. Junior Abby Jones led Kent State with four goals and one assist. She has scored at least three goals in 12 of her 24 career games. Jones set a program record for most shots (13) and shots on goal (10) in a single game. The former All-ASUN First Team member added four draw controls and two ground balls in the loss.
Sophomore Kenzie Sklar was a huge spark off the bench for the Flashes, recording a hat trick in just her sixth career game. Her three goals matched her 2020 total. Junior Madison Rapier scored two goals, marking her fifth career multi-goal effort. Juniors Meghan Cawood and Megan Kozar each added one goal against the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Madison Flannigan earned her first career start in goal for Kent State after appearing in five contests as a freshman. She recorded seven saves in 37 minutes of action.
About Marquette
The Golden Eagles come to Kent with an 0-2 record, but they have an opportunity to get their first win of the season Friday afternoon against Oregon. Both losses this season for Marquette are by one goal, including an 11-10 loss against Mid-American Conference member Central Michigan.
Marquette is led by redshirt senior Megan Menzuber, who has 11 points (7g, 4a) this season. Nine of those 11 points came in the season opener against Cincinnati where she recorded six goals and three assists. Junior Lydia Floust has tallied three goals in each game for the Golden Eagles, while sophomore Emma Soccodato has five total goals on the season.
Senior Sophia Leva and redshirt senior Julianna Horning split time in goal for the Golden Eagles. Leva has recorded 16 saves and ranks 13th in the country with an impressive .552 save percentage, while Horning has just four saves with a .182 save percentage.
