Flashes Prepare for Conference Contests this week

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team (6-7, 3-1 MAC) will travel to Akron to take on the Zips on Wednesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. and then return home for a matchup against Central Michigan on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
About the Flashes
Last week, Kent State dominated against Eastern Michigan with record-setting performances on Wednesday with a 19-9 victory. On Saturday, the Golden Flashes fought hard against Robert Morris but lost 13-12.
The Golden Flashes swept the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week awards. Jackie Wolford was recognized for Offensive Player of the Week and Lily Miller was recognized for Defensive Player of the Week.
Morgan Kubicki is currently tied for most season assists (20) and leads the MAC. Wolford recorded a career high of goals (7) against the Eagles. She also had a career high of points (8) and assists (3) against the Colonials. Kenzie Sklar (G, 43; P, 51) and Wolford (G, 46; P, 55) are currently leading the MAC in goals and points this season, as well as leading offensively for the Golden Flashes.
About the Zips
Akron (1-13, 0-5 MAC) is currently on a 13 game lose streak and are 0-6 at home. The team faced off against Detroit Mercy last Wednesday and fell 11-10. At their last matchup on Saturday, they lost to Youngstown State 18-5 with the Penguins leading in shots 27-16.
About the Chippewas
Central Michigan (6-6, 4-0 MAC) had a 21-9 victory over Akron this past Wednesday and a 20-8 win over Detroit Mercy on Saturday to continue their undefeated streak in the MAC. Last week the Chippewas swept MAC Player of the Week awards, with Avery Wagnon and Kelly Hoyt being honored.
Goalkeeper Alexa Martel is ranked No. 2 in the MAC for save percentage (.500) and Hoyt is ranked fourth in goals per game (31).
Series History
Kent State is 3-2 against Akron including a 9-8 win this season.
The Chippewas are undefeated against the Golden Flashes (6-0).
