
Lacrosse Set for First Pair of Home Contests

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's lacrosse team opens their 2025 home schedule this weekend with a pair of games against Presbyterian and Cincinnati. The Flashes' contest on Thursday against the Blue Hose is now set for a 6 p.m. start at Akron's Stile Fieldhouse due to anticipated freezing weather. Kent State will make their 2025 Dix Stadium debut on Sunday at 3 p.m. as they welcome Big 12 foe Cincinnati to town.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
The Flashes have not played since the second game of the season's opening weekend against George Washington. The team was supposed to hit the road to face Mercyhurst last Sunday, but the matchup was postponed to April 2 due to inclement weather. With those two opening weekend games in the books, Kent State sits at 1-1 after defeating George Mason 13-9 and falling at George Washington 13-6. 2024 All-MAC First Team honoree Zayda Crumpton earned MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance across both games, tallying team-highs with five goals, eight points, and 12 draw controls. In Kent State's win at George Mason, Lizzie Lundeen played a key role by opening her junior season with a five-goal performance.
SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
The Blue Hose will open their season against Kent State on Thursday before facing Akron on Saturday. In 2024, Presbyterian went 2-14 overall and 1-7 in Big South Conference play, with their lone conference win coming in a 12-4 contest at Gardner-Webb. Presbyterian does have an all-conference returner as defender Avery West earned all-conference second-team honors in 2024 after leading the team with 41 ground balls and 31 turnovers responsible for.
SCOUTING CINCINNATI
The Bearcats have completed three games in the 2024 season, sitting at 1-2 with narrow defeats to Vanderbilt and Louisville before a dominant 18-4 victory over fellow MAC lacrosse program Robert Morris. Cincinnati will face Marquette on their home turf Thursday afternoon before heading Northeast for their duel with the Flashes. Through three games, the Bearcats are led in goals and points by graduate attacker Lauren Ottensmeyer, who has nine goals and 11 points. Junior attacker Camryn Callaghan follows closely behind with seven goals and ten points.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State leads the all-time series with Presbyterian 2-1. The Blue Hose lone victory came in the most recent matchup between the schools in 2023, when they recorded a narrow 11-10 victory at Dix Stadium.
The Flashes have never won the in-state matchup with Cincinnati, with an 0-6 record in the all-time series between the schools. The Bearcats recorded a dominant 16-4 victory in the team's previous meeting in 2024 at Nippert Stadium.
